Advanced Figure Drawing: Space to Play

Description

Please note: This is an advanced level figure drawing class. Drawing experience required. Figure drawing is an active process, an engagement with material that is both physical and intellectual. Students are encouraged to work in terms of process rather than making a finished product, fostering curiosity and insight. Insights develop through visual problem solving, exploring the looking and seeing relationship, and the expression of touching marker to paper. This class is a choose your own adventure and completely self-directed. At the start of each class, students dive into group meditation through deep, concentrated drawing time. Emphasis is on gesture poses, progressing through short poses of varying lengths and ending each class with 20-minute poses. The final class meeting is devoted to a long pose. Troubleshooting, corrections, and critiques are available upon request during 5 minute breaks between poses. Model fee is included in the cost of the class.
