Description

This course teaches an understanding of the lifesaving principles embodied in the 4 components of water-rescue education: judgement, knowledge, skill and fitness. Rescuers learn tows and carries, and defense methods and releases in preparation for challenging rescues of increased risk involving conscious and unconscious victims of various types. Lifesavers develop stroke efficiency and endurance in a 500 metre timed swim. 100% attendance is strongly encouraged. Prerequisite: 13 years of age by the last day of the course OR Bronze Star certification. This program is eligible for P2P. The Lifesaving Society now requires candidates to confirm their identity by presenting valid identification on the first day of class. Acceptable forms of identification include: Driver’s Licence, Health Card with photo, Passport, Permanent Resident Card, Ontario Photo Card, Certificate of Indian Status or Canadian Citizenship Card. (Digital copies of the identification are acceptable)
