This class is designed for beginning-level students ages 12 to 16. To master all eighty-eight keys, start with the fundamentals. This class emphasizes proper posture, hand technique, note identification, basic rhythms, dynamics, and more. Students will experience the satisfaction of playing their first tunes. This course represents the first level of Year 1 in the Youth Piano Program. The CMC curriculum provides four years of group instruction designed to prepare students for private lessons. Placement into private instruction in Year 4 is based on instructor availability, student skill level, demonstrated progress, and consistent class attendance.This class uses Faber Accelerated Piano Adventures for the Older Beginner: Lesson Book 1, which is included in the registration fee and will be provided at CMC.The cost of the course includes the required textbook for this class: Faber Piano Adventures Primer Level, which will be provided at the first class.
