Description

Ladybug Nature Walks are SLOW nature hikes for young children (ages 2-6) and their caregivers. Kids explore plants, animals, and rocks while building social and motor skills. Each child borrows a backpack of exploration tools, and Nature Educators lead small groups through engaging nature play activities - like observing plants, digging for worms, catching bugs, using magnifying glasses, collecting leaves, and sensory play. We provide supplies and guidance, while children follow their curiosity and creativity.ABOUT THIS WALK:Cathedral Park is one of our favorite places to experience autumn! Ducks and geese gather near the river's edge, some of them resting up for their nighttime migration. The park also has trees with leaves of many shapes and colors, including cottonwood, maple, ash, and birch. We might even stop to look at Oregon's state fossil, the dawn redwood!GOOD TO KNOW:PARKING: free parking in parking lot. ACCESSIBILITY: Accessible for strollers and mobility devices. We will move on grass, paved sidewalks, and soft-surface trails. WHAT TO WEAR: Dress for the weather! WHAT TO BRING: Bring a snack and handwipes for story time.AMENITIES: Park restrooms are open seasonally. St. John's neighborhood has several cute cafes and restaurants. If you want to eat afterwards, try Tienda Santa Cruz or Sparrow Bakery.
