Description
The Invasive Species Strike Team at Eagle Creek Park is a group of dedicated volunteers who don’t mind getting dirty removing invasive species such as bush honeysuckle, garlic mustard, and wintercreeper. We meet the second Saturday of the month, March through November (weather permitting), working 9:00 AM – noon. Volunteers hand-pull or use loppers to remove invasives and treat stumps with herbicide. Wear long pants, close-toed shoes, and a hat. Use of bug spray (for ticks) and bringing a water bottle is also suggested. In case of bad weather, we will email to Strike Team volunteers the day prior to inform them of the cancellation.Volunteers under 18 are welcome to join as long they are attending with an adult.Gate admission is waived for Strike Team volunteers. Please tell the gate attendant you are volunteering for the Strike Team and they will waive you in.
