Description

Bronze Medallion teaches lifesaving principles, incorporating the four components of water rescue education: judgment, knowledge, skill, and fitness. Participants learn tows, carries, and release methods in preparation for challenging rescues of increasing risk. They also learn to respond to increasingly complex situations, involving conscious and unconscious people, in contact and non-contact rescues. An endurance swim of 400 meters in 12 minutes is required for successful completion of this level. Successful participants receive the Bronze Medallion award. 100 % attendance and participation are required. Completion Criteria:• Attend and participate in 100 % of the course.• Successfully demonstrate competency in required skills, activities and final evaluation.Pre-Course Requirements:• If under 13 years of age: Bronze Star completed by the first day of the course. • Age 13 and older: Bronze Star not required, must be 13 years of age by the last date of the course.
